Licensing

SENTENSA is a devot member of the open source community, and as a consequence, SENTENSA is primarily licensing its products on open source principles. However, to accomendate those who whish to use SENTENSA's products in proprietary solutions, we are also offering a commercial license arrangement. We would also like to recommend you to execute a commercial license, in the event that you are not sure if the intended use of the SENTENSA products is allowed under the open source licensing regime. If you wish to have a commercial license, you may also subscribe to one of our support packages, which may, if requested, include a commercial license.

  • The main licensing form is the Open Source License. For those developing open source applications, the Open Source License allows you to offer your developed software under an open source / free software license to all who wish to use, modify, and distribute it freely. The Open Source License allows you to use SENTENSA software at no charge, under the condition that if you use SENTENSA Knowledge Miner in an application you will redistribute, the complete source code for your application must be available and freely re-distributable under reasonable conditions. SENTENSA bases its interpretation of the GPL on the Free Software Foundation's Frequently Asked Questions. For more information on SENTENSA's Open Source License, click here.
  • You may also execute a Commercial License, which would be the preferred alternative if you intend to use the SENTENSA products in a proprietary solution developed by you, and which alternative is also recommended in the event that you are unsure about your future usage of the products - the terms of the Commercial License is set forth here, and for more information about pricing, click here.
  • SENTENSA Knowledge Miner has two major parts – Indexing and Search. They are distributed under differing open source licenses: Indexing under LGPL and Search under GPL.
